Pioneers 6
weeks- 11 months Our Pioneer Room is for our infants from ages 6 weeks through 11 months. Our infant program will provide your child with quality early learning experiences that foster their growth and development. We are honored to be apart of your child's beginning.
A Personal Touch In our infant room you will find our caregivers signing, rocking, holding, and playing with your child. Your child's primary caregiver will take care of your child's needs and develop an individual schedule and activity plan. The schedule will consist of active play, quiet play, rest periods and feedings. Activities will be planned to encourage your child's growth and development. A daily report on your child's day will be given to you when you pick your child up.
Exploration We provide a safe and nurturing environment for our Pioneers to explore and learn about the world around them. Our classroom is divided into learning areas that focus on an important stage of development.
Messy Zone This is where feeding and sensory activities take place. We believe that infants need opportunities to explore with textures. Once your child can sit up, we will introduce them to texture such as water, non-toxic paint, sand, and other materials. We have a small sensory tub to suit an infants size that our caregivers will use. Active Zone We have lots of soft space in the active area for our Pioneers to practice rolling over, sitting up, crawling and exploring. In the corner of the room there is a step up where those active crawlers can climb up and admire themselves in the mirror on the wall. It also acts as a practice platform for our infants that are trying to roll over or sit up. We have a soft tunnel climber for those crawlers that need to climb. Our low shelves are accessible to the infants so they have the opportunity to choose from stacking toys, texture blocks, sorting toys, rattles or other materials.
Quiet Zone In our quiet area you will find each child's crib where their personal items such as a blanket and soft animal are. The lighting in this area is always dim and classic lullaby's are played for soothing a fussy child to sleep. We have a rocking chair for rocking your child during a feeding or to sleep. This area is separated from the rest of the room by a 2 foot wall.
Learning Rooms Our Pioneers will also have the opportunity to visit the Learning Rooms. At least once a day they will have the opportunity to play in the Infant/Toddler Fun Center. Periodically throughout the week, our Pioneer assistant will take one child at a time to the Library for story time.
